Creative Careers

Talent Accelerator

Talent Accelerator  is a De La Warr Pavilion programme that supports young people (aged 5 to 25) into creative careers in East Sussex. This is done through raising understanding of the range of jobs available in the creative industries, developing high quality work experience, developing opportunities for skills development and expanding what creative businesses and cultural organisations can offer young people. A recently published report has declared Talent Accelerator a “considerable success story”.

Since 2022, Talent Accelerator, has
• engaged with over 10000 children, young people and employers
• delivered 113 (1500 hours) of work placements across 23 organisations
• delivered work experience and volunteer opportunities around the Turner Prize
• worked with 34 education partners and 56 organisations
• helped 11 schools achieve Artsmark recognition
• held 2 major Jobs and Apprenticeships Fairs

and developed a co-ordinated approach to skills development for young people across East Sussex . This includes working with a variety of cultural organisations, Skills East Sussex, Local Skills Improvement Partnership and schools and colleges.

Culture Shift

Culture Shift are pleased to share their latest Career Insight Conversations, six films featuring professionals from the Hastings and Rother area, working in the Creative Sector.

Creative Café Careers Events are the heart of the Culture Shift flagship careers and skills programme. With face to face engagement restricted due to pandemic restrictions these are new ways to explore how young people can continue to participate in meaningful encounters with a variety of professionals. Making the films showed us just how important it is during this time to continue to prioritise career education and to provide opportunities for our young people to engage with a range of inspiring professionals and employers.
