NEXT SHOW: Not About Heroes
Wednesday 1st November 2017
At Robertsbridge Community Theatre
Presented by Flying Bridge Theatre Company and Seabright Productions
Performed by Iestyn Arwel and Daniel Llewellyn Williams – Directed by Tim Baker
Stephen Macdonald’s Fringe First winning play about the unique friendship between celebrated WWI poets Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon. They met at Craiglockhart Hospital in 1917, and bonded over a mutual hatred of war and love of poetry.
This production won a Best Actor accolade at the Wales Theatre Awards, and embarks on a world tour commemorating the centenary of both the meeting depicted in the play, and of the Armistice. ‘Recreates the Great War as tangibly as if the theatre had filled with the smoke and stench of the battlefield. Compelling and superbly performed.’ British Theatre Guide |
Gloriator
Gloria Delaneuf is well-versed in mime, mask, and the mysteries of stage-craft. Her UK tour manager Josephine Cunningham is not. Together they have created Gloriator – an awe-inspiring production of bravery, honour, and costumes made out of cardboard. Russell Crowe may not be available, but they are determined it will be a show you’ll never forget. Wonderfully inventive, physical, and very silly, Gloriator was created by French/English female comedy duo Spitz & Co with t...he help of Angus Barr (Publick Transport) and Aitor Basauri (Spymonkey). It won the Critics Choice Award at Exeter Ignite, and was developed with support from Arts Council England and Bristol Old Vic Ferment. |

MAGNIFICENT MEN REVIEW
This was a really great show brought to us from the Applause Rural Touring scheme.
A story of daring, and perhaps a little madness, brought to life by these two wonderful actors, a fantastic script and a few props that really showed the fragility of the aircraft in which they crossed the Atlantic. It was a clever interpretation of a simple tale and really left us thinking...why don't more people know the amazing adventure of Capt.John Alcock and Lt. Arthur Whitten Brown...after all they really are national heroes? The audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance, they laughed all the way through and left great feedback for us. We are really looking forward to presenting our next show. All the best from the Young Theatre Promoters. |
THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN: 20TH MARCH
ROBERTSBRIDGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Theatre by Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon. Award-winning theatre company The Foundary Group joins BBC4 sketch group The Ornate Johnsons for this brand new staging of the hit play about British pioneering aviators Capt.John Alcock and Lt. Arthur Whitten Brown and their daredevil dash across the Atlantic in a converted Vickers biplane.
In this glorified kite they flew from newfoundland through dense fog, sleet, snow and hail - sometimes updside down - to Ireland and worldwide celebrity. What made they do it? Why have they been forgotten? And how can a couple of actors tell it all with just cardboard, two chairs and some left-over props? Starring The Ornate Johnsons' Brian Mitchell and David Mountfield (Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show and This Is Jinsy) Check them out on Facebook or Twitter Tickets: Adult £6 in advance £7 on the door
Concessions and RAP members: £5 in advance £6 on the door tickets from: jcrouch@robertsbridge.org.uk |
