HASTINGS INTERNATIONAL PIANO ANNOUNCES DIGITAL FESTIVAL WITH GUEST APPEARANCES FROM COMPOSER & SONGWRITER RUFUS WAINWRIGHT, CHI-CHI NWANOKU OBE & MARTIN JAMES BARTLETT

Hastings International Piano, the charity responsible for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition and the Hastings International Piano Festival is delighted to announce a one-day Digital Festival on Friday 13th November from 2-8pm.

The festival supported by Arts Council England and in association with our new partner Steinway and Sons is an online initiative designed to educate and inspire the next generation of pianists, young artists and industry professionals, who will have the opportunity to enjoy special performances and Q&A’s from award winning artists including Grammy nominated composer and singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright and BBC Young Musician of The Year and Cleveland Piano Competition Winner Martin James Bartlett.

During the festival, tickets will also enable you to stream a piano masterclass with Professor Vanessa Latarche, the Head of Keyboard at the Royal College of Music and President of the Jury at Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition. There will be an industry panel discussing important topics of conversation, offering advice to artists and industry professionals with guests including The Managing Director of Steinway Craig Terry, as well as a recital performance by Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition prizewinner Maxim Kinasov.

The festival Keynote speaker is Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE, the broadcaster and founder of Chineke! Orchestra, who will speak about diversity in the arts and her own experiences that have shaped her career and her success in founding a flourishing new orchestra.

Headlining the festival will be Rufus Wainwright, one of the most revered artists of his generation and a hugely inspirational figure in the music world.  This very special ‘In conversation with’ event will combine an interview by Gill Graham, Director of Global Music Publisher Wise Music and live performances of songs from his latest album ‘Unfollow the Rules’.

Join our expert trainers and up to ten other aspiring Artsmark settings for an interactive support session using Zoom video conference.

About this EventJoin one of our expert trainers and up to ten other aspiring Artsmark settings for an interactive support session using Zoom video conferencing.
This session is for those that would like further support on how to plan the activities, outcomes, and evaluation of their Artsmark journey, by using a Planning Model template. Taking a step by step approach, this session will show you how the planning model can help you to clearly plot out your Statement of Commitment action plan, and how this can lead to your desired short, medium and long-term outcomes. This in turn will support evaluation and the measuring of impact for completion of your Statement of Impact. You will gain advice and guidance from an experienced trainer throughout, whilst sharing ideas with your peers from other settings.
We offer these sessions as part of our support offer to schools and education settings on their Artsmark journeys. This is an optional opportunity that needs to be booked in advance.
We will provide you with a Zoom login link in time for the session, which will be free for you to use. You do not need to have a Zoom account. You will need access to a computer or smartphone that has video capabilities.
Please note:
  • Please log in at least 5 minutes before the start time
  • Please only book one ticket per setting - more than one member of staff can take part.
  • The session will last around 1 hour 30 minutes and you are welcome to stay for the duration or leave once you have received the support and information you need.
  • We ask that you let us know your support needs in advance so we are able to prepare.
  • Once you have successfully booked, you will receive a confirmation email. If you have any queries please email [email protected] or call 02380 332491 and ask to speak to the Artsmark team.
In your support session, the trainer and Artswork support staff will be able to provide helpful feedback. They will not promote their personal opinion, or be able to advise on how to achieve specific levels of Artsmark. Neither the trainer nor Artswork have any input into the Artsmark assessment panel. We will be adding you to our Artsmark forum on Basecamp as part of this support offer.

Join us this half term!

We know that this October half term will be even harder than usual to keep the whole family occupied - especially with the weather looking a little dreary.

With this in mind, we have worked with Towner International artist Rita Evans on a series of free hands-on creative workshops for the whole family which can be enjoyed in a Covid-secure environment. We’ve also got family film screenings and a great kid's menu in our cafe.

Towner Cinema

Family Film: Away

Wednesday 28 October, 11.00am & 3.00pm
Friday 30 October, 11.00am & 3.00pm

After a mysterious crash landing, a young boy wakes up alone on an exotic island. He’s being chased by a dark spirit, although it’s unclear whether the spirit means to help or harm the boy. Suitable for all ages, the story, told without dialogue over a series of breath-taking backgrounds, is equally inspired by reality, dreams, and waking fantasies. An utterly charming and beautifully animated feature film. Tickets to these special family screenings are only £5.
