GRANTS FOR ARTS PROJECTS IN SCHOOLS

Do you have a really good idea for an arts project to help improve the health of young people in local schools? Are you looking for funding?

The Hastings and Rother Reducing Health Inequalities Fund is part of the NHS Hastings and Rother CCG’s Healthy Hastings and Rother programme, which aims to reduce health inequalities in the area.  The fund is supported by additional investment from Artswork, the Bridge Organisation for the South East in support of Arts Council England’s Cultural Education Challenge.  Projects must have health improvement related outcomes and target the most deprived wards in Hastings and Rother
 
The Fund is for projects that:
 
1.  Encourage and support people to make healthier lifestyle choices
 
2.  Help people look after their own health better
 
3.  Improve access to local healthcare and/or other support services that will benefit health
 
4. Address the wider social determinants of health
 
As well as:
 
5. Ensure more children and young people have access to and benefit from high quality Cultural Education by achieving Arts Award (A project that chooses this aim must also have addressed a minimum of one of the four health inequality aims listed above). 
 
6. Ensure more settings, where eligible, achieve Artsmark (A project that chooses this aim must also have addressed a minimum of one of the previous four health inequality outcomes NB: Artsmark registration fees cannot be supported by this fund).
 
Schools , arts companies ,voluntary & community groups  who are based in or providing a service/activity for children and young people from the qualifying Hastings and Rother electoral Wards are eligible to apply for this exciting new grants programme . Artists and sole traders are eligible to apply, but only on behalf of (and in partnership with) an eligible constituted organization.
 
This fund is part of NHS Hastings and Rother CCG’s Healthy Hastings and Rother Programme, which aims to reduce health inequalities in the area by encouraging people to make healthier lifestyle choices and improving access to local healthcare and other support services. The fund targets the most disadvantaged and marginalised communities in Hastings and Rother and consequently is only able to accept applications which benefit the residents of the 14 most deprived wards in Hastings and Rother.
 
The grant programme is part of work to transform health and social care outcomes for local people through East Sussex Better Together (ESBT).  In particular the grants contribute to work to grow strong communities, particularly the personal and community resilience work stream.
 
The grants programme recognises that it can often be difficult for smaller groups and organisations to put together funding applications, and to bring their projects to life once a grant is received. To help with this dedicated support is available throughout the process - both before and after  the award of a grant- from East Sussex voluntary sector infrastructure organisations (CVSs) to any organisations or groups wishing to make an application.
 
There are two types of grant available – Fast track for awards up to £1,000 to groups with an income of up to £50,000 and Standard of up to £10,000 with no income limit for groups.
