Dear Teacher,
Last year we had the pleasure to involve local youth in our festival's big parade for St. Leonards' Festival. This year we are also launching another creative initiative in which we would like to involve your school. 'The Inventor's Handbook' is a participatory visual arts project, in which we hope to involve a large number of children from local schools and children centres. Participants that sign up to the project will be sent a branded and personalised sketch book to fill in with their creative interpretation of remarkable inventions, re-inventions and/or discoveries they might have come across, or would like to know more about. Contributions are not limited to visual art forms – they can also include video, sound recordings as well as images, drawings and photos. The sketchbooks will be displayed in a gallery space in St.Leonards for 30 days around the festival dates, and we will reward the best work. The festival will run on 1st July this year, with an opening night on 30th June. We believe this activity will be not only an incentive to young people's interest in science, but also to their self esteem and their creativity, as the best work would be displayed publicly. The project ties in with the school curriculum in many ways, and presents a good opportunity to display your students' work in a non-profit professional environment, and would enhance your school's contribution to extra curricular activities. We would really like to have your school on board, and would be very grateful if you could let us know either way if you are interested in the activity. Please reply to me on [email protected] Kind Regards, James Hodgson, St. Leonards Festival Director 111 Collectiff [email protected]

Dear Teacher, The St Leonards Festival invites everyone to come and enjoy music from all over the world on the 26th of June. St Leonard's is one of the best places to be in London, it's very close to London Bridge and there are loads of things to see and do. There will be some free activities like yoga, belly dancing and face painting.
